Public Statement Archive

What did the person actually say?

About the archive

The archive keeps short, exact excerpts of what public figures said, with the date, the place and what they were responding to, and a link to the full original.

  • Excerpts are copied word for word and kept short; the source link carries the full statement.
  • A statement is Verified primary only when we matched it to an official transcript, recording or publication.
  • Context notes are neutral: they say what the statement responded to, not whether it was right.

Sources we prefer

  1. Official transcripts and recordings
  2. First-party publications and press releases
  3. Broadcast archives
  4. Court and parliamentary records of testimony

Editorial code

  • Coverage is chosen by published criteria, not by any client or dispute.
  • Titles are neutral; difficult questions are answered directly.
  • Every sensitive page shows its status, source date and review date.
  • No one can pay to be added, removed or to change a record.
